Robert Andres Millikan was an American experimental physicist. He confirmed Thomson's hypothesis that the mass of an electron is at least 1000 times smaller than the lightest atom. He experimented with oil which is known as the oil drop experiment. He carefully studied the individual droplets of oil. The drops showed that the charge on a drop had a finite value.
