Janischevsky was the first to describe Cannabis ruderalis - a small, uncultivated variety considered to be feral or semi-feral.
Future researchers would later suggest that Cannabis ruderalis is not actually an additional species or subspecies, but rather represents uncultivated semi-feral varieties of different types of Cannabis.
