On April fourteenth the Titanic sank. It was a very tragic event because many people died while on it. The Titanic sank because it was hit by an iceberg and the watertight compartments were greatly damaged. 1,500 people died, and many were lost. There were tons of different classes on the ship including first class second class and third class. This is such an important event in history because it helped emerge the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea. Also, it is such an important event because it has helped improve the way that ships are now created so that now we can travel much safer. Also, the ship was never technically called unsinkable, but the builders called it practically unsinkable. When people were getting on the lifeboats mostly women and children were let on the boats first.
