The Middle Passage brought African American slaves from West Africa to the West Indies. There were horrible living conditions, because they were all packed together below decks with no space to sit up or move. The effects of this were that about 15% died because there was little ventilation, or sufficient water. There was also a lot of starvation, and disease.
