Culmination of the Byzantine-Sassanid War of 602-628, in which Heraclius defeated the general of Khosrow II, Rahzadh, which resulted in a civil war in Persia. This greatly weakened the Sassanian Empire and allowed the Byzantines to reclaim previously lost lands in the Middle East.
