The French ruled Vietnam since 1887. The French gets taken over by the Nazi's. Vietnam gets seized by Japan. After WW2 both become free of rule and France wants wants its power and Vietnam back. Vietnam makes France leave. The US sees Vietnam leader Viet Minh as communist threat on July 1959 The first US troop is killed in South Vietnam.
