Prior to his election as President of the United States, Joe Biden nominated Kamala Harris for the position of US Vice President. They won the office in November 2020. Harris’ parents originated from India and Jamaica, which makes Kamala Harris not only the first woman, but the first woman of color to become Vice President in the history of the United States.
