Also known as the Revolution of 1905, about 200,000 workers and their families marched to the Czar’s winter palace and peacefully petitioned for better working conditions and freedom. Czar Nicolas II orders soldiers to stand outside the palace and open fire on the crowd. More than a 1,000 were wounded with several 100 dead. After the event, many people participated in violate protests forcing the Czar to make a Parliament which was soon disbanded after a few months making people outraged.
-This event was a cause of the Russian Revolution because people were outraged that their own ruler had ordered the massacre of peaceful protesters. Opinion of the Czar fell even lower than it was before, causing people to want to revolt against the corrupt ruler.
