The dissolution of the Soviet Union was the result of a series of events that had been building for decades. In December of that year, the leaders of the Soviet republics declared the dissolution of the Soviet Union and formed the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

The dissolution of the Soviet Union had a profound impact on the world. It led to what we thought was the end of the Cold War, the fall of the Iron Curtain, and the beginning of new democratic governments in many former Soviet republics. However, it also led to significant economic and social dilemmas, including inflation, unemployment, and political instability.
