The Heimlich maneuver was first introduced in 1974 by an American surgeon and medical researcher. This is a technique of abdominal thrusts to stop choking and allow the object to pass or leave the trachea. This method has had an extremely high success rate, and approximately 70%-86% of choking victims have recovered from it.
