King Aegon III Targaryen struggles to breed healthy dragons - those he had managed to produce are born weak and sickly. He is unable to prevent the death of the last one, earning himself the title Dragonbane. The last dragon dies in 153 AC, and all that is left behind are several eggs which the Targaryens fail to hatch.
