Causes:
1. Germany had a significant advantage against Poland. They had more advanced weapons and a better army
2. The British and the French didn't feel militarily ready enough to fight a war against Germany.
3. France and the UK put in an appeasement to keep the peace and to limit the concessions to German lands
4. The appeasement was seen as a very powerful policy
Effects:
When the Germans invaded Poland the appeasement was off.
Germany invaded Poland with 2000 tanks, nearly 900 bombers and over 400 fighter planes.
Germany deployed around 60 divisions and nearly 1.5 million men were there to fight Poland.
Germanys strong army broke through Polish defences with no problem and they advanced to the capital of Poland.
France and the UK declared war on the Germans on the 3rd of September 1939.
In 1941 the Germans attacked the eastern side of Poland where the Soviet Union had taken over this was seen as the first attack on the Soviet Union.
