You know that famous story? The one with the Roman Emperor who declared war on the sea and commanded his soldiers to attack it, thus destroying Rome’s military reputation? Yeah. That guy. Before becoming the leader of the Roman Empire, Gaius Caligula spent his days partying, watching people get tortured and murdered, and… doing things that shouldn't be said out loud. But then he became emperor. And things went downhill. Even more downhill? They got bad. After surviving an assassination attempt by getting stabbed thirty times, he became paranoid. Anyone that got in his way was cut down. He thought himself a god (which is a symptom of schizophrenia, but they didn't know about that at the time). He thought he could defeat Neptune, the god of the sea, by hitting water with a bunch of swords. He was assassinated January 24th, 41 AD.
