The Siri voice assistant was released as an app for iOS in February 2010. It was the first modern digital virtual assistant installed on a smartphone, introduced later as a feature of the iPhone 4S on 4 October 2011. Others followed including IBM's Watson, Microsoft's Cortana, Amazon's Alexa, Facebook's "M", Google's G-Assistant, Alibaba's AliGenie, and Yandex's Alice.
