Over the years parents have been fighting for the rights of their children to be included in general education classrooms with peers without disabilities. In the particular case of Daniel R.R. v. State Board of Education, parents were at disagreement with their 6-year-old son being placed in a special education classroom. Attempting to stay in line with IDEA, the court set out to determine the most appropriate education for the child. Questions of focus were if quality education could be achieved with classroom supports, is the general education classroom setting beneficial to the child, and how does the child effect the general education environment? The determination of placements for students with disabilities has been a challenge for years and continues to be a fight. Cases like such have made a large impact on the process of student placement.
