The Judge in the Johnny Depp London Trial was once the counsel (legal representative) for The Times aka NGN. NGN were the defendants in the London Trial.

In October 2006, Andrew Nicol, QC, counsel for The Times, scored a landmark victory for the freedom of the press in the Court of Appeal.
