After months of investigating, Jason discovers that there is no preparatory school in Bordeaux that housed or houses and Abingdons. He concludes that his parents must have killed Olive.

Upon hearing knows that Harpoon has made a kill nearby, he somehow manages to locate Mathéo, a member of Harpoon who made the kill. He has him go murder Ulric and Ethel Abingdon.

A few days later, Jason returns to Englandesh, Nancledra only to discover that Mathéo was killed trying to assassinate Jason's parents. Disappointed, he retreats back to Bordeaux, knowing that he has to keep himself more hidden this time. He renames himself to Jason.
