18 авг 1920 г. - Women allowed to vote
Описание:
After decades of protest and backlash, August 18th, 1920 marks the day that the 19th amendment was ratified and granted women the right to vote. Discriminatory state voting laws made African American and other minority women unable to vote for well into the 20th century. According to a study, there were 118.1 males for every 100 females in 1920 (Caldbick). Therefore approximately there was nearly one female for every male in America at the time, yet only the white women could vote which excluded countless other women of various races a say in elections. Women of all races also would bring unique and different perspectives and experiences to these elections. However, the white men that ran the country as an oligarchy, instead of a democracy, continued to implement their own feelings and views on race and gender into the nation's legislations and laws.
