before: Johnson suspended Stanton for Secretary of War. Grant comes in, but gives the position back to Stanton and the Senate overruled the suspension. Stanton was back in.

Stanton responded to his dismissal by locking himself in his office.

-3 days later, House of Representatives introduces articles of impeachment against the president w/ eleven counts of misconduct (mostly about infringing the powers of Congress) (house-prosecutor, senate-court)
