She was initially signed by Jerry Wexler, and he took her to Muscle Shoals. Before this, she was signed by Columbia however none of her records performed well.
She once disappeared in the middle of recording session and fled to NY and hid out for several weeks.
She was so successful for Muscle Shoals that they became her regular band. They would regularly fly the band to work with her in New York.
