1 янв 1296 г. - Expulsion of the English from Scotland

Описание:

After King Edward I of England began an invasion into Scotland, conflict arose between Scots and English who lived within the same territory. This lead to a complete expulsion of the English from any Scottish-owned land.

John of Fordum writes, "The same year, on the 20th of April, owing to most unmistakeable grounds for mistrust, and strong proofs of villainous plotting against the king and state, all the beneficed English in the bishopric of Saint Andrews were formally deprived of their benefices by William of Kinghorn and Patrick of Campania, surrogates of William Eraser, bishop of Saint Andrews, who was abroad. In like manner, every single other Englishman, both clerk and layman, was cast out of the kingdom of Scotland for plotting."
(John of Fordum's Chronicle of the Scottish Nation, translated from the Latin text by J. H. Skene, edited by William F. Skene)

What does this mean for peace?
As tensions rose between the English and the Scottish, the Scottish saw it as necessary to get rid of any English within their territory. Whether this was done as an attempt to prevent further conflict occurring or as simply an act of dislike is not clear.
