Founded in 1942 by Johnny Mercer, Buddy DeSylva, and Glenn E. Wallichs in Los Angeles, Capitol Records was the first West Coast-based label in the United States. It is popular for recording a wide variety of genres and signed artists like Les Baxter, Les Brown, and Nat King Cole. They are still a label to this day.
