During the depression, when many people lost confidence in the bank, they wanted President Roosevelt to come up with a plan that would protect those depositing into the banks. On June 16, President Roosevelt signed "The Banking act of 1933". With the signing of this bill, came the creation of the FDIC. The founding of the FDIC closely reflects the guarantee of safe deposit that the Populist Party wanted.
