Donkey Kong(original) was a very popular game because it brought platforming into the gaming world it was released on June, 1987 in the United States. In the game you had to climb ladders and then walk across a floor to get to the other ladder to reach the top where the princess was being kept, and you had to do this while dodging and hopping over flaming barrels rolling towards you by Kong a gorilla.
