The Battle of Hastings takes place. Armand Malfoy, a wizard, arrived in Britain as part of William the Conqueror's invading army. Malfoy is given a prime piece of land in Wiltshire when William the Conqueror is made King, and there he establishes Malfoy Manor, where his descendants have lived for ten consecutive centuries. Many other French families both Pureblood and of high Muggle standings also migrate to Britain during this time.
