Crossing the Alps and travelling through Germania, Romana and Aurelius - now a couple of years old - are captured by warriors of a Germanic tribe in the region. Romana fights fiercely, as does Aurelius despite his age, and in the stories of their lives it is this that convinces the Tribal King Hrōþiwulfaz to allow them to join the tribe, providing Romana serves him as his seer.
