Georgia Patriot Col. Elijah Clarke and SC Brigadier General Andrew Pickens in command of a large force of Patriot Militia (over 4,500 men) attacked and destroyed at least thirteen Indian towns in an effort to stop Indian raids in the backcountry. Reported to have killed over forty Indians, with two Patriots wounded. The reference point provides a general location of the lower Cherokee settlements area.
