Col John Wood was home recovering from illness when Maj "Bloody Bill"Cunningham rode up. Wood with his wife and son met Cunningham in his fromt yard realizing there was no escape so he surrendered. He was shot and killed falling into his wife's arms. His house was plundered by the Tories.
