Due to a series of bad kings who committed idolatry ending with Judah's last king, King Zedekiah, Babylon attacked and captured Judah. Zedekiah watched the Babylonians killed his sons. Temple of God was burned and people were killed or taken captives.

This is the twelfth year of Ezekiel's exile.
