While Col Farr was away fighting the British in the area of Fishdam Ford on the Broad River, local Loyalist invaded his home, burning buildings and stealling catt;le. Col Farr learned of the invasion and rode to the house with several other Patriots.The surprised the Loyalist, Col Farr killing one with his sword at his door. Patriots pursued the rest killing several. During the occupaton of the home, Col Farr's wife was either killed or died during child birth, cause unknown.
