King Philip claimed that the Templars were heretics and devil worshippers and mocked the cross. After being tortured, some Templars admitted to these crimes, but it could have simply been done to escape torture. Some people claim that King Philip just wanted the templars money and accusing them of being heretics was an easy way to get it.
