The stalemate that had formed when the Allied forces the North Koreans and Chinese back to the 38th Parallel ends after 2 years. The war ends with a cease-fire. The communists signed the cease-fire because President Eisenhower had hinted that he might introduce nuclear fighting into the conflict. This was combined with the death of Joseph Stalin.
