It is unknown the age of the Hittite language family and their origins are speculative at best. It is almost certain that a pre-Hittite group was in Anatolia by this date. They started in the region as a minority population but eventually gained dominance through assimilation or conquest. It is likely that pre-Hittite groups were in Anatolia as early as 2800 BCE
