Описание:

This act classified Alaska as a district and provided it with federal funding for education. It marked the beginning of the 'boarding school' era, in which indigenous were sent away from their families to be Christianized and educated in such a way as to erase their culture. This was an era passed with effort from Presbyterian minster Sheldon Jackson, wo became the First General Agent of Education in Alaska.
