Heracles is struck by madness by Hera, causing him to murder Megara and his three children. Going to the Oracle of Delphi, Heracles was directed to serve his cousin Eurystheus, king of Tiryns, for twelve years and perform any task Eurystheus required of him. As penance, he adopts the name Heracles, in deference to his burdon.
