A letter was sent from Washington, Texas in regards to the Alamo. It was written by Benjamin Briggs Goodrich and was sent to his brother Edmund. In the letter, Goodrich states that his other brother, John, was murdered in the war at the Alamo, along with 180 other men. According to him, the Americans were attacked by 8,000 Mexicans, and no Americans made it out of the battle alive. The Mexican army was led by General Santa Anna, and they had surrounded the Alamo before they finally attacked. Colonel Travis, who was leading the Americans throughout this battle, killed himself before he could fall into the hands of the enemy. Seven men surrendered and requested to talk to Santa Anna, but they were murdered before they were allowed to do so.
