The first camera was made in 1544 and it was called the Camera Obscura. Although it is technically the first camera it was nothing like the cameras we know today. It consisted of a windowless box with a small circular hole on one side and then on the other was a white wall. The image would project not the white wall and then someone would trace it. It is ver significant for film as it was the first step towards being able to make cameras and projectors. There wasn't much development in camera technology after this for a long time. But that all changed in the 19th century.
