A group of 9 black students that enrolled in an all White Central High Shool in Little Rock, Arkansas. This certain people were chosen because of their strength and determination to face the resistance and challenges they would encounter. When on September 4, 1957, the first day of classes Governor Orval Faubus prohibited their entrance to the school. This began a huge civil rights movement because ethe “Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka decision, issued May 17, 1954, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that segregation of America’s public schools was unconstitutional.”( History.com Editors, 2022). Until September 15, 1957 where the Little Rock 9 attended their first full day of classes in the High School. This group grew up highly recognized for the job they did to this big movement and the contribution they had. In 1999, President Clinton awarded each individual with the Congressional Gold Medal and personal invitations to the inauguration of President Barack Obama in 2009.
