Alamein 2 (Oct 23 - Nov 11 1942): The Second Battle of El Alamein, battled in the deserts of North Africa, is viewed as one of the definitive triumphs of World War Two. The Battle of El Alamein was principally battled between two of the extraordinary commandants of World War Two, Montgomery, who succeeded the excused Auchinleck, and Rommel. The Allied triumph at El Alamein lead to the retreat of the Afrika Korps and the German acquiescence in North Africa in May 1943.
