A move to the Yellow Phase lifts occupancy restrictions in the City of Springfield.

"On Friday, the City of Springfield entered the yellow phase of its Road to Recovery, which reduces some COVID-related occupancy restrictions. The masking ordinance remains in effect. Although there are many factors that play a role in the measured reopening of our community, vaccine rollout has been a significant factor in our gradual return to normalcy.

Consideration for moving into the green phase (the final phase of the Road to Recovery in which masking restrictions will be removed) is dependent upon three indicators – two of which must be met with significant progress toward the third -- over a 28-day period:

The seven-day rolling average remaining below 20 cases
Hospitalizations remaining below 20 patients
50% of individuals 16+ being fully vaccinated
“Vaccine continues to be our best defense against COVID-19 and its variants,” said Chief Medical Officer Dr. Nancy Yoon. “We encourage everybody to get vaccinated -- the benefits to you, your family and the community far outweigh the risks of contracting the virus.”
