After WWI, the Weimar Republic became the governing body of Germany and followed traditional western democratic practices. However, due to the depression, Germany was unable to make reparation payments. As living conditions for German's worsened, Hitler's Nazi Party began to gain popularity as they promised to be the solution to Germany's problems. On July 14th, the Nazi Party won 37% of the vote and were democratically gained power.
