June 20th, 1963Following the Cuban Missile Crisis, a hotline was created between Khrushchev and Kennedy to prevent tensions from reaching the point at which they were during the Cuban Missile Crisis. This event is significant because it marks the first steps of de-escalation in the Cold War.
