Approved by Congress in 1948, Secretary of State George C. Marshall propose a massive infusion of American capital to rebuild the European economy. It also urged nations of Europe to work out a comprehensive recovery palm based on U.S. aid. The Marshall plan ultimately generated a boost for European industrialization and brought extensive investment into the region. Not only did it help foreign countries and expand American foreign policy, but it also worked as a stimulant for the U.S. by establishing markets outside of America for American goods.
