I Love Lucy premieres on CBS on this date. Developed from the radio show My Favorite Husband, except it stars Lucy's real life husband, Desi.

While CBS would air the show, Desilu retained rights to the show, so when they began airing reruns of the show, they got the ad revenue until CBS bought the rights to the show for $4.3 million dollars.

As of 2012, the show generated $20 million for CBS.
