Bartholomeu Dias was a voyager who rounded the cape of good hope in Africa in 1488 and explored into the Indian Ocean. This voyage opened up sea trade for all of Europe and greatly increased trade. It opened the floodgates to years of prosperity for European traders. Key concept 4.1
