Police arrested Bhagat Singh, suspecting him of complicity in the bombing of a crowd celebrating Dussehra in Lahore (October 5th, 1926). He was innocent of this, but the police alleged he tested a bomb to use in an elaborate plot to free HRA members accused of the Kakori Conspiracy Case. Was pressured to turn government's witness.
