Coronal Essyl of Aryselmyr sends his agents on an expedition into the deepest Trench of Lopok. They come back alongside three fiendish kraken who serve Dagon and carry the Emerald Eye artifact.

Essyl gives the Emerald Eye to Kyron the Mad, the merfolk leader, to ensure his loyalty. Strengthened by the kraken, Essyl and Kyron seize increased power across Serôs.
