The Celestial civilization is destroyed in a civil war between them, during which time the Infinity Stones - six gems bestowed with the fundamental aspects of existence: time, consciousness, energy, space, knowledge, and reality - are attempted to be used to destroy the other factions. Several seeded Celestials, still incubating in their solar nurseries, are left on their own.
