The Kansas Nebraska Act allowed people in Kansas and Nebraska To decide for themselves, this is called Popular Sovereignty. The Kansas-Nebraska Act repealed the 36/30 line of the Missouri Compromise because Kansas and Nebraska were north of the 36/30 line and the territories could end up voting to have slavery.
