so up until this point, it's been a monarchy and their head of state is mahj jahan akbar
one of his generals, taanash jaidev, is dissatisfied with the mahj, so during jahan's birthday party, he has him and his entire family poisoned
during the trouble, he takes over with might
his soldiers are 100% loyal to him, he's proven himself to be a brilliant tactician and willing to fight beside them and sacrifice himself for them, so when he goes against the mahj, they support him
he makes himself mozzarabi, an ancient medisian title meaning supreme leader
technically it's supposed to be a monarchy, but this is mostly unprecedented (only very few countries and/or states have tried it, only one (vaale) was succesful) so they're really just going on a whim here
and i mean, he really did think he was doing what was best for the country, bc he was very anti cavan/varos, and the mahj was just like 'nah, let's try friendship'
but jaidev was all 'the gods are singing in my ear and they are singing gET EM'
